HAKI Universal Suspended Scaffold

Types of specialty scaffolding include:

                      

• A pump jack scaffold which is a platform supported by vertical poles.
• A ladder jack scaffold which is a platform supported by brackets attached to ladders.
• A roof bracket scaffold which is a platform supported by triangular shaped supports.

General Scaffold Requirements:-

• The gap between the last plank.

• Planks should not extend past the ends of the scaffold frames more than 12 inches.

• The platform should be free from clutter.

• A defective scaffold must be removed from service.

Supported Scaffolds Pump Jack

The brackets are designed to be raised and lowered in a manner similar to an automobile jack.The requirements on this page are specific to pump jack scaffolds only.   Pump jacks are appealing for certain applications because they are easily adjusted to variable heights Pump jacks.

Following are the gernal requirements:-

• Pump jack brackets and accessories must be fabricated from metal plates.

• When guardrails are used for fall protection.

• Each pump jack bracket must have two positive gripping mechanisms to prevent any failure or slippage. 

• When bracing already installed has to be removed so the pump jack can pass.

Swinging Stage Scaffolds

• The platform of a two-point suspension scaffold.

• The use of repaired wire rope is prohibited.

• Two workers are permitted to work at one time on suspension scaffold.

• Ropes capable of supporting at least six times the rated load.

• Each worker on a suspended scaffold must be protected by a personal fall arresting system.

• Tiebacks must not be secured to standpipes and  other piping systems.

• Tiebacks must be secured to a structurally sound anchorage on the building or structure.

• A single tieback must be installed perpendicular to the face of the building or structure. 

• Only those items specifically designed as counterweights must be used.

• Counterweights shall be secured by mechanical means to the outrigger beams.

• Independent lifelines should be protected from abrasion and wear.
